If the creation tools support Morpheus then the developers will build games.
Phil Spencer said "I happen to know Sean" [Murray developer from Hello Games.]
This is actually a very clever and shrewd PR move! No Man's Sky was regarded by many websites as the game of the show. Especially exciting because it is made by a small team. PS4, PC, Nintendo and even XB One gamers were salivating over it. It is a (timed) PS4 exclusive.
The exclusive agreement with Sony means Hello Games or any other manufacturer cannot announce that...
If I'm honest I wasn't excited about Phantom Dust but then I didn't know about or play the original. However if Microsoft can resurrect more well known old favourites like Perfect Dark then I'd be happy to see this FPS reborn for the new generation.
The Xbox One being outsold by the 3DS is actually shocking and not a positive sign for Microsoft. But the June sales figures should reflect the price drop and it's possible that MS will do very well next month.
Bungie said " We’re cross-platform, so we had to be very delicate with all four consoles, making sure they have the same experience."
Which sounds like 'we had to have parity and gimp the PS4 version.'
I don't understand this mindset of developers. They should make the best graphical version they can for each platform and they will all play fine. Killzone: Shadow Fall was 60fps and it looked great. The Destiny Alpha looks really good but...
Repeatedly we are hearing PR and blog sites reporting these 'facts':
* 10% - 20% boost after reclamation of Kinect system resources.
* DX12 will improve tools so developers can squeeze even more power out of the hardware.
* Azure magic Cloud will perform offsite calculations so that the XB one can concentrate on displaying better graphics.
* Secret sauce
* All of these together will mean most powerful console
But it is ...
Martin O'Donnell is a composer of such legendary ability he could score blockbuster movies. But it would be nice if he returned to Halo!
GAME INFORMER ask is it "possible for a developer to say, “We want to disable the record function, we need to get everything out of the system that we possibly can right now.?” -Phil Harrison doesn't give a direct answer but intimates yes they can.
The Microsoft PR department later say different which is confusing to GI and reminiscent of the contradictory information about DRM that MS said in June last year.
Wow this opinion piece is not from some n...
Of course it's not a true Alpha! But this article is stating the obvious. The fact that this website has gone to all the effort to make an article about it indicates they have no understanding of a game's development process.
A real alpha is when the initial concept of a game has been decided and the developers put together a basic but functioning software model. Normally with basic graphics. The idea is to test the functionality of it, how it works and plays and then...
@christocolus
You said "The xbox one sold a lot more copies than 360 but you are here downplaying that." The reality is you don't know and I don't know, NOBODY knows because EA & Microsoft are unwilling to share that information. There is no need to feel defensive because somebody wants to know more facts rather then accept vague PR statements! YOU should want to know too. Regardless of whether it is Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo it is good to seek the t...
It would be helpful to see a breakdown of sales across the 3 different formats 360, Xbox One and PC. The openness of the statement means that it likely includes 360 sales as well.
Titanfall Xbox One released 11th March
Titanfall Xbox 360 released 8th April
Technically both in the same month!
Remember when Microsoft Wire released a press statement that said "Xbox*" has sold the most in April yet NPD figures showed the Xbone had sold m...
The $500 million figure is not just for the development and advertising of the first game, it is the cost of planning and developing the franchise lore which wiil be used for the sequel.
There are hardly any other major releases in September, the month it releases. I've played the Alpha and been impressed by its beautiful 1080p visuals and Halo-like gameplay. This is going to be a big quality game and it IS going to sell.
I think I read an article last week where Phil Spencer told Eurogamer that the 10% power increase to the Xbone after dropping Kinect meant that Bungie were able to upgrade the performance to 1080p and it was running EXACTLY the same as on PlayStation 4 with the same frame rate all the same graphical effects.
The Beta for both the Xbone and PS4 will allow a more neutral comparison by the media.
"On PS4, the jump to full 1080p resolution makes a massive difference. With the focus on massive worlds filled with far-reaching detail, the move to a higher resolution dramatically improves the experience. "
I've been playing the alpha and it does look so amazing. I know some people say they don't care about resolution but I really think it benefits the game because the landscapes and enemies are so detailed giving a greater sense of reality and that helps ...
After the report that many disillusioned Xbox One users are not bothering to turn on their consoles maybe this ad was deliberately made by Microsoft to get them using it again?
Joke! ;)
I can't believe she actually said 'special sauce!' It must be part of the Microsoft staff manual "Make sure you put special sauce into everything you do." ;)
"Other than that, you can look forward to what comes next."
There's been a lot of talk on the internet with people suggesting Nintendo's next machine is a combined portable and home console so WOW to hear Miyamoto actually considering it. Wii U could do better so I really hope Nintendo carve a massive place for the self in the new game's market.
Also, Pilotwings. People want it.
"it was a pretty sorry scene of weirdos sitting around wasting their lives and a bunch of people chatting to take whatever female in the rooms shirt off or show boobs."
But that's what makes it so great! You get a glimpse into these oddballs lives. The stuff I've seen.... Always makes me wanna take a shower after. PlayRoom is a sleeper hit for me.
Aisha Tyler is Boycotting Destiny? Ah. Bungie am cry.
It's not just the new generation hardware that has helped sales. It is the fact that Ubisoft released Watch Dogs in May, a month with a lack of new AAA releases (besides Wolfenstein.)
The lesson publishers should learn from this is to stop saving their games for the Christmas sales period October to December, because those months have an abundance of new releases and most gamers will only buy one or so games.
Publishers should release games throughout the...
